New Approaches and New Questions in Chinese Law

 Oxford, 19 – 20 September 2013

The Europe-China Law Studies Association conference aims to bring together academics from different disciplinary backgrounds, as well as professionals and representatives of governmental and non-governmental institutions, to explore developments in Chinese law and enrich our understanding of China’s legal environment. This year, the conference will be hosted by the Programme for Comparative Media Law and Policy at the Centre for Socio-Legal Studies, University of Oxford.

The conference is spread over two full days and will include roundtable discussion sessions and panels addressing, amongst others, research methods for Chinese law, Chinese legal history and legal theory, the particular role of individual institutions within the legal framework, law and justice, judicial processes, and the Chinese characteristics of different aspects of law, including financial, commercial and criminal law.

Once all participants have confirmed their attendance, a detailed programme will be made available on this website. Those wishing to attend this conference are kindly invited to register via the conference e-mail address, which can also be used for any queries in relation to this event. Attendance is free of charge, but registration is mandatory, as spaces are limited.
